iLab project website

The Innovations Lab at RENCI is a workshop (in the “a place to work” sense) where we develop hardware devices.  The devices can be electronic or mechanical, and typically involves a little bit of engineering in both realms.  In the spirit of the RENCI mission, these devices are developed to in some way benefit the State of North Carolina and its universities.

The prototype devices developed at the Innovations Lab range from environmental sensors to robots to computer display and interface technologies.  For example, iLab has worked with flood sensors and power meters, but we are also working on some high-speed networking hardware.  (Also, since we house the majority of RENCI’s soldering capabilities, iLab staff find themselves making the occasional cable to hook up microphones or GPS receivers or whatever.)
